garantir a transferência e arranque seguro do sistema operativo.Technological progress led to an increased use of laptop computers, as they
are becoming more powerful and granting greater mobility, causing the gradual
disuse of desktop computers.
The described phenomenon is currently happening in universities, where
students prefer to carry and use their laptops to work on required tasks
from classes, rather than using the available desktop computers. Therefore,
the budget spent by academic institutions on populating classroms with
desktop computers becomes unnecessary.
In an former master's thesis was developed DETIboot, a fast on-the-
y loading
system of Linux operating systems, granting teachers the opportunity
to easily run an operating system, set up by them, on the student's laptops.
A problem arises in exam evaluation, where the use of student computers
is undesirable.
The aim of this work was to extend the DETIboot system, allowing it to be
used in a secure fashion during exams. The extension englobes hardening
the Linux image by passing the permission's control from the students to the
teachers, and ensuring the secure transmission and booting of the operating
system
Expressions of gratitude applied to business: a lesson for managing online reviews
Online reviews are critical for businesses to thrive, but their management is not often effective. Using data from social media platforms, with more than 600 observations of public online interactions between business owners and customers, we showed that strategic management of online reviews predicts a positive increment of online reputation. Publicly expressing gratitude (Study 1) and, specifically, directing these expressions towards beneficial online reviews (Study 2) are effective strategies supporting a general increase of the business online score. These findings identify public expressions of gratitude as a responsive, attentive gesture that signals care and consideration towards customers. Such gesture promotes the online reputation through satisfaction between business community relationships.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Authenticated file broadcast protocol
The File Broadcast Protocol (FBP) was developed as a part of the DETIboot system. DETIboot allows a host to broadcast an operating system image through an 802.11 wireless network to an arbitrary number of receivers. Receivers can load the image and immediately boot a Linux live session. The initial version of FBP had no security mechanisms. In this paper we present an authentication protocol developed for FBP that ensures a correct file distribution from the intended source to the receivers. The performance valuations have shown that, with the best operational configuration tested, the file download time is increased by less than 5%
Metaverse Architecture. A Study on the Metaverse from an Architectural Perspective
O mundo virtual tridimensional exigirá o desenvolvimento do
web designers do metaverso.
especulações do produto acabado é fundamental. A revolução digital iniciada no
The upcoming metaverse is a massive market with a lot of creative opportunities about
to surge for artists. The three dimensional virtual world will require development of the
environments which populate it and architects should be the main force behind it.
With technologies such as virtual and augmented reality, immersion in those spaces
will feel almost as real as the physical world. Although the technological development
of the field is massively important for its success, it's worth highlighting the importance
architectural work will have as well for the human feel of experiencing virtual spaces.
The gaming industry has explored similar fields for years, but lacks the sense of casual
interactions or shared experiences in the same way the metaverse does. This one
resembles more of social media than video games. In this space, architects are the
web designers of the metaverse.
As a completely new field, researching the metaverse and how it can be beneficial to
architects requires a certain amount of critical thinking and abstract views on what is
architecture traditionally. This new artist branch diverges from what we currently
define architecture, both in the artist sense, but also in the social impact it has in
society. Architecting the metaverse tackles both sides in a different manner, virtually,
but which ramifications also impact human lives, albeit in a modern global network.
As it stands, the metaverse doesn't have a concrete definition. It's still a concept being
built and there's various opinions on its current development stage and what it'll look
like as a complete product. To integrate an art like architecture, with such a rich history
and involving experiences traditionally so grounded on physical sensations, focusing
on the key components of the metaverse and working with the most credible
speculations of the finished product is key. The digital revolution that started in the
1990's with the World Wide Web and gained traction in the transition into the 2010's
with the portability possible with smartphones and wearables, has impacted multiple
industries, including architects. The profession has changed drastically throughout
time, but the metaverse might become the biggest catalyst in the next few years,
possibly branching formed architects into another profession of its own dedicated to
the metaverse. Though those share similar knowledge in skills such as spatial design
and 3D modelling, they differ in knowledge key to each's product. Metaverse
architects don't require knowledge in areas such as engineering, but do need to
understand the technology that supports their work.
All considerations going on right might change as the project develops, but it's
important that architects integrate in the process of building the metaverse.
Understanding human anthropology in a digital space will be one of the challenges to
overcome in creating a virtual universe where, though it's not the physical reality we
were born into and live in, is still a real place, where we can socialise and live
experiences not possible without it, that's still designed by and for humans.
In this dissertation, we gather information about what the metaverse is and possible
ways architects can integrate its development, reflecting on its current stage and
future integrations it can have by society
The paper proposes to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of Literary Journalism as a genre, from its origins to the present. It is based on the bibliographical consultation and the reading, analysis and reflection of works reference (of the emergence and development of literary journalism), as well as current works that are included in the genre under study.
Literary journalism had as its precursor the new journalism — which proposes the possibility of writing a journalism that is "read like a novel". But, unlike a novel, literary journalism is not fictional; it can resort to a style of writing similar to what is observed in the literature, however cannot have freedom to invent.
With roots in journalism and literature, we intend to demarcate literary journalism in relation to these two genres of writing and communication, presenting a set of characteristics that give it its identity. Literary journalism, as a genre, has as its "master", factuality, humanization and immersion. The correct chronological sequence, accuracy in reporting and information gathering, truth and comprehensiveness, and elasticity in time, among others, are also important in delimiting literary journalism as a genre
The aim of this study is to provide a space to develop imagination and creativity through Drama Games based on the realistic techniques of Stanislavski. For this, an University Extension project entitled as "The First Sign - Drama Games in the Public School from Stanislavski and Vigotski" was elaborated. The project was carried out in a school in a peripheral district of the city of Uberlândia, with students from the 9th grade. The duration of the project was 3 months and within these 3 months, 12 meetings were organized to discuss the development of the proposal. The project was analyzed based on the theoretical assumptions of Vygotsky, as well as the dramatizations developed in the Stanislavski-based Drama Games. Three games were chosen in favor to organize the analysis more clearly and objectively: scenarios’ game, room’s game and families’ game. From this analysis, we have seen that the objective of the work has been achieved and that the Theater should be used as a technique for the development of imagination, creativity and the extension of personal experience of humans, regardless of age. Finally, we emphasize that it is important to rethink how art have been used at schools and its influence in the Psychology formation.
What Has Changed During the COVID-19 Pandemic? - The Effect on an Academic Breast Department in Portugal
Introduction: One year ago, Portugal entered its first lockdown because of the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The impact of this on delays in cancer diagnosis and treatment is a major concern, which may negatively affect the outcomes of these patients.
Materials and methods: This retrospective, single-center analysis compared the clinical and pathological characteristics of breast cancer (BC) patients referred to a medical oncology first appointment between March 2020 and 2021, with the same period in the previous year.
Results: Strikingly, there was a 40% reduction in the number of BC patients during lockdown. However, there was a statistically significant increase in the proportion of metastatic BC patients admitted for the first time for systemic therapy (13.6% vs. 28.9%, p = 0.003). Additionally, a statistically significant increase in the number of patients with bilateral early BC at diagnosis after March 2020 was found (7.2% vs. 1.9%, p = 0.043).
Conclusion: These findings support international recommendations for an accelerated restoration of BC screening, to reduce incidence of advanced breast cancer at diagnosis and mitigate the expected impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on patients with cancer. Further work is needed to examine in detail the impact of measures to manage the COVID-19 pandemic on breast cancer outcomes.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
This Dissertation was written in order to contribute to the academics, and comic book lovers, integration of comics into the contemporary pop culture of the 21st century. Comics, a medium for transmitting stories through image and word, are not much different from what the Greek of Ancient Greece did in their vases and poetry contests. So that, a corpus of comic strips that were based on the Homeric Poems was selected in order to understand the contemporary popular viewpoint on these epics and what motivated artists to adapt them into comics, or, more accepted terminology in the last decade, graphic novels. The main focus is to compare these comics with Homer's epos, and also to understand the message the adaptor is trying to convey and to whom they want to convey it to as a target audience
